View Records Sponsored partner optionMCPD publishes arrest-related data and maintains an MPIA request process, while the Maryland Judiciary controls the court-record layer.
The best path depends on whether you need a discovery dataset, an MCPD document, a warrant check or a court case.
For Montgomery County, Maryland arrest records, use MCPD public-safety data to identify the arrest event, the MCPD MPIA/GovQA route for an underlying police record, and Maryland Judiciary Case Search for the separate court case and disposition.
Montgomery County Police publishes public-safety datasets that include police arrests and booking-of-arrestees information. Those datasets are useful for finding an event and narrowing a name by date or police activity before requesting a document. They are discovery tools, not a substitute for the Police Records Section when the goal is a specific report or other record maintained by MCPD.
For an agency record, MCPD directs requesters to its Maryland Public Information Act process and recommends the online GovQA portal when the needed data is not already online. The department also notes that some records or information can be restricted under law, so a targeted request is more useful than asking for everything connected with a name.
| Need | Official path | Boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Find a police arrest event | MCPD public-safety data | Discovery information published by the police department |
| Request an MCPD record | MCPD MPIA / GovQA | Existing police records subject to disclosure rules |
| Check whether a warrant is active | MCPD Warrants Section | Current warrant handling, not case disposition |
| Review the criminal case | Maryland Judiciary Case Search | Court-file summary and case identifiers |
This helps the Records Section locate the correct event.
A Montgomery County location does not make every arrest an MCPD record.
The judicial record is the place to verify filed proceedings and outcome.
